D is for Dogs

Afternoon naptime

These are just two of the many stray dogs that hang around my campus.  They bark a lot at night and follow you if you're eating something, which is really annoying.  When they crowd around me, I stand very still and pretend that I'm Cesar Milan.  After a while, they understand that I'm not going to feed them and go bother someone else.  I met the person who feeds them a few months ago, a lady in her forties with a tanned, weathered face and a broad smile.

"They're not good dogs," she said, scowling at the strays who wagged their tails.  "They don't listen to me."

I know they look cute in the picture, but they're kind of a pain to deal with in real life.  Still, I included them in this blog series, because, like it or not, they are a part of my life here, and they do pretty much run the University.

I think I'm all caught up now.  See you tomorrow!

  1. I love your take on the "d" prompt. What a insight about what is part of your life.

  2. Don't they eat dogs over in that part of the world? Maybe I'm thinking of some other culture.

  3. Some places have a storks and cats pest problem.

I don't really have a follow up to that comment, just think it's interesting.

  4. They look so cute and lonely...they just need someone to love them.

  5. I agree that dogs can be wonderful but also a big pain if they aren't trained to obey. Kids are kind of that way too.

  6. they are very cute doggies (which is why someone is feeding them, and why they are hanging around)

stopping in for a visit from the A to Z

  7. They seem very content and appear to be healthy. I doubt if they consider themselves strays.

  8. Usually its cats that hang around. Where I work we have families of feral cats living. They are shy and don't come near us, but many of the employees leave plates of food for them at night.

  9. Dog seem like they are a lot to deal with. There are a few breeds that I like though....although I doubt I'll ever have one as a pet.

  10. Cute dogs! I found you through the A to Z challenge and I look forward to reading more from you.

  11. They're so cute! But I know what you mean. There are few things as annoying as a dog that won't stop begging. >_<
